Vindicator, Valley 24 invite public to help set stage for Pavlik bout

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning Valley residents who wish to step into the boxing ring have their opportunity.

The Vindicator and Valley 24 are running separate promotions for those interested in being part of the Feb. 21 boxing event between middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and top contender Marco Antonio Rubio at the Chevrolet Centre.

The Vindicator is looking for someone to sing the national anthem, and Valley24.com is searching for ring card girls.

People interested in singing the national anthem before the event are encouraged to visit Vindy.com.

Applicants are to submit a profile including their name, age, address and contact information. Also, those interested are asked to include any links to videos of them singing.

All applicants will have their information and videos submitted to Team Pavlik, who will choose the winner.

Women 21 and older and interested in displaying ring cards in between rounds are encouraged to visit Valley24.com and click on the contest banner. Applicants will submit a biography, including name, age and contact information, as well as photographs.

Beginning Tuesday, visitors to Valley24.com will be able to vote on the women they feel should represent the Valley.

Winners for both the national anthem and the ring girls contests will be announced by Team Pavlik on Feb. 18 between 6 and 8 p.m.
