Podolsky’s 21 key Cards’ 88-31 victory


LISBON — Mike Podolsky scored 21 points to lead the Canfield High boys basketball team to a 88-31 victory over Beaver Local in an All-American Conference Red Tier game on Friday.

Adam Muth added 16 for Canfield (11-5, 4-1 AAC Red), which outscored Beaver Local 50-16 over the second and third quarters to take control.

Brady Gunter scored 10 points for BL (0-16, 0-4).

Hubbard 38, Salem 31

SALEM — In a defensive struggle, the Eagles (11-5, 3-2) trailed the Quakers (10-5, 4-1) 26-22 at the end of the third quarter, but then surged 16-5 for the AAC White Tier victory.

Cory Farcas and Kory Hopkinson scored 11 and 10 points respectively for Hubbard.

Jordon Strabala led Salem with 15 points.

Liberty 60, Struthers 56

STRUTHERS — Floyd Showers scored 15 points, Anthony Cleveland had 14 and Tashawn Letlow 12 to lead Liberty (6-9, 2-3 AAC White), which survived a late rally by the Wildcats.

Nick Jacubec had 15 points and Nate Jacubec 14 for Struthers (4-11, 0-5), which outscored the Leopards 16-9 in the fourth quarter.

Champion 65, LaBrae 42

CHAMPION — Mike Smith scored 13 points and the Golden Flashes (6-9, 3-3 AAC Blue) used a major second quarter to put the game away.

Champion scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 48-20 lead into the break.

Bryan Watkins scored seven points to pace the Vikings (10-5, 3-3).
