McDonald keeps on track for perfection


East Palestine, which eked out a two-point win over United, remains atop the ITCL Tier One standings.

LOWELLVILLE — Devin Bansberg and Lance Ronghi each scored 18 points to lead the McDonald High boys basketball team to a 74-60 win over Lowellville in an Inter Tri-County League Tier Two game on Friday.

Justin Rota added 12 points for the Blue Devils (15-0, 11-0 ITCL Tier Two), who outscored Lowellville 40-31 in the second half to pull away.

Anthony Schiraldi scored 15 points, Mike Mangine and Mauro Amendola had 12 and Mike Basista had 11 rebounds for the Rockets (8-7, 5-6).

Leetonia 64, Western Reserve 42

LEETONIA — Jake McNally had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Luke Newton added 12 points and Andrew Trummer 11 for Leetonia (8-8, 6-5 ITCL Tier One), which took a 22-8 lead. Nick Altomare had eight points and four steals and Josh Selway nine points, six rebounds and 10 assists.

Justin Lude had 13 points to lead Reserve (9-6, 6-5).

Sebring 77, Jackson-Milton 50

NORTH JACKSON — The Trojans (8-6, 5-6) built a 35-14 lead by intermission, then cruised to the Tier Two victory.

Travis Irwin, Aaron VanKirk and Jordan Faudree paced Sebring with 16, 15 and 10 points respectively.

Bobby Schnellbach led the Bluejays (1-14, 1-10) with 15 points.

Wellsville 74, Southern 62

SALINEVILLE — Nunzio Lombardozzi scored 17 points and Nick Dalrymple 12 in leading the Tigers (11-4, 7-4 ITCL Tier Two).

Ethan Blatch paced the Indians (7-9, 5-6) with 12 points.

Columbiana 81, Crestview 71

COLUMBIANA — Kevin Blinsky scored 21 points to lead five Clippers in double figures and Columbiana hit 16 of 17 from the free throw line to hold off Crestview.

Josh Harold added 19 points, Logan Goist 15, Travis Denmeade 12 and Trenton Hatherill 10 for Columbiana (11-4, 9-2), which outscored the Rebels 23-11 in the second quarter.

Jakob Leon had 17 points and Brandon Gates 16 for Crestview (8-10, 5-7).

East Palestine 53, United 51

HANOVERTON — The Bulldogs (14-2) rallied 19-16 in the fourth quarter to remain unbeaten (10-0) in the Tier One standings.

Austin Cope paced East Palestine with 23 points. Ben Gysin chipped with 17.

Jeremy Walker, Jason Ramus and Zack Taylor scored 18, 12 and 11 points apiece for United.

Springfield 60, South Range 49

NORTH LIMA — The Tigers (10-6, 8-4 ITCL Tier One) rushed out to an 18-4 first-quarter lead and they were in command 33-17 at intermission.

Joe Musial, Todd Kibby and Eric Lipp scored 17, 15 and 10 points respectively for Springfield. Joe Mihlan, Kyle Seaver and Mike Chuey led the Raiders (4-12, 3-9) with 21, 14 and 10.
