CANFIELD — The exchange of nuptial vows took place at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the presence of Judge Diane Vettori as Brenda Mellinger and Michael Golec Jr. were united in marriage at Canfield Fairgrounds Village Church.
The daughter of Larry and Judie Mellinger of Columbiana and son of the late Francine Golec of Austintown were honored during a reception at Avion on the Water before leaving for a Royal Caribbean cruise. Upon return, they live in Austintown.
The bride’s strapless white satin A-line gown was enhanced with an apple red sash and featured a bustle in the back.
Apple red gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Alicia Chamberlain of Medina, and the bridesmaids, Sarah Smith of Cleveland, the bride’s sister; Tara Wittensoldner of Alliance; Caroline Nagy of Liberty; and Sarah Halko of Fort Mill, S.C..
The groom’s brother, Andrew Golec of Youngstown, performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Brandon Rice of Cortland, Bob Wittensoldner of Alliance, Jonathan Nagy of Liberty, and Ted Gabler of Austintown.
The bride graduated summa cum laude with a degree in criminal justice from Youngstown State University. She is a corporal with Goshen Police District in Salem.
The groom, a sergeant with Goshen Police District, studied criminal justice at YSU.
