Trumbull grand jury indicts Niles man involved in chase in Dec.

WARREN — The Trumbull County grand jury has indicted Harley E. Tibbs, the man who allegedly led a Warren policeman on a 20-minute high-speed chase through Warren, Champion, Southington, Warren and Braceville townships on Dec. 27, on charges of felonious assault and failure to comply with the orders or signal of a police officer.

Tibbs, 28, of South Street, Niles, fled from a Niles police officer that night on U.S. Route 422 after a traffic stop, then traveled into Warren, where a police officer followed Tibbs north on North Park Avenue and out of the city, police said.

Tibbs eventually crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Braceville Robinson and Eagle Creek roads in Braceville Township, police said.

A woman remained in the vehicle after the crash, but Tibbs fled on foot, police said, and was arrested the next day.

If convicted of the charges, he could get up to 20 years in prison.
