Man dies, two injured in Lawrence County traffic accident


NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A man was killed and two women were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after an accident on Pa. Route 388 in Shenango Township today.

Police said the accident happened at 12:17 p.m. near the intersection with Frew Mill Road.

Police said a car driven by Marsha M. Cross, 57, of Ellwood City was traveling east on Frew Mill and a car driven by Kenneth J. Beatty, 71, of New Castle was traveling south on Route 388. Cross failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with the Beatty car, police said.

Beatty was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
