Coroner to rule on cause of woman’s death

STAFF REPORT

LIBERTY — The Trumbull County coroner’s office will determine how 27-year-old Elizabeth DeAngelis died this week inside her home.

Police found the woman’s nude body on the floor of her Middle Drive home Wednesday.

According to police reports, family members asked police to check on DeAngelis when she was not heard from for a period of time. Officers went to the home and found her face down on the floor.

Police removed a plastic bag containing prescription drugs, paperwork and photographs. Officers also found a spoon containing suspected heroin and syringes.

Police Chief Rich Tisone said officers are not yet ruling out homicide or a drug overdose as the cause of death.

“We do know there was drug activity in the house, but we cannot make a determination until the coroner’s office makes a decision,” he said. “It [the death] is just basically still under investigation.”
