CHICAGO — Jeremy Montgomery scored 21 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 27 seconds left, to lead Cleveland State. Cleveland State (16-8, 7-5 Horizon League) trailed the entire second half until the shot from Montgomery, who was 5-for-7 from 3-point range. J’Nathan Bullock sealed the game by making two foul shots with seven seconds left.
No. 11 Butler 66, Detroit 61
DETROIT — Gordon Hayward scored 22 points and No. 11 Butler shook off its first Horizon League loss of the season by beating Detroit. Hayward was 7-for-8 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line for the Bulldogs (20-2, 11-1), who stayed one game ahead of Wisconsin-Green Bay, which handed them their first conference setback Monday night.
Shelvin Mack added 14 points for Butler.
Wright St. 68, Valparaiso 58
DAYTON — Todd Brown scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Wright State. Cory Copperwood added 12 and Will Graham had 11 for the Raiders (14-9, 8-4 Horizon League).
Urule Igbavboa’s 21 points and 14 rebounds led Valparaiso (6-17, 3-9).

CINCINNATI — B.J. Raymond scored 23 points and led a 3-point barrage that swept No. 9 Xavier to its 11th straight win that kept the Musketeers perfect atop the Atlantic 10.
Ohio 89, N. Illinois 59
ATHENS — Jerome Tillman had 24 points to lead Ohio to an 89-59 victory over Northern Illinois on Thursday night in the Bobcats’ highest scoring game of the season, one in which Northern head coach Ricardo Patton was ejected midway through the second half. Justin Orr added 16 points and Kenneth Van Kempen had 12 for Ohio (11-10, 4-4 Mid-American Conference). Darion Anderson, who was reinstated following a one-game suspension for an unspecified violation of team rules, led the Huskies (4-14, 2-6) with 17 points.
