MINERAL RIDGE — Fourteen applicants submitted letters of interest or r sum s by Wednesday’s 4 p.m. deadline for the vacant Weathersfield Township trustee post.
Trustees advertised for applicants for the part-time position, which pays $12,346 a year, after accepting the resignation of Fred Bobovnyk last week.
The 12-year trustee resigned effective Jan. 20 in a surprise move to apply for the post of township fiscal officer, which pays $21,216 a year.
Trustees appointed Bobovnyk to the fiscal position at a special meeting Jan. 29. Former fiscal officer David Rouan resigned as of Feb. 2 because he has been appointed director of administrative and government offices under Trumbull county’s new engineer, David DeChristofaro.
The appointment for trustee will run through Dec. 3, the conclusion of Bobvnyk’s term. The appointee would have to win election in November to remain in the post beyond that.
Trustees have 30 days to name someone to the post.
The applicants are former trustees Jim Price, Jim Pirko (township grants coordinator), and John Vogel; Marvin McBride, a former school board member and trustee candidate in 2007; Richard Harkins, a former trustee candidate and member of the township zoning commission; Steve Gerberry, a zoning commission member; Karl Fauvie; Robert Palmer; Raymond Hobbs; Melody Brockway; H. Gilson Blair; J.W. Aleshire; James Dunlap; and Lori Williams.
Trustees meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday but may not come to a decision at that time, Chairman James Stoddard said.
