staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — After a 21-year-old woman told police she was punched in the face and then pistol-whipped by her son’s father, officers located and arrested Jevon Prieto on a felonious assault charge.

Prieto, 25, of East Dewey Avenue, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in municipal court.

The woman told police that Prieto was mad because she was out with their son on Hillman Street late Monday.

Her screams for help could be heard when she was on the phone with a 911 operator, reports show.

Prieto was released from federal prison Dec. 24, after serving five months for violating his supervised release in a crack cocaine case.

He had served more than three years for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and then was placed on four years’ supervised release, records show.
