Blues 4, Blue Jackets 2
COLUMBUS — Brad Boyes scored twice to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Blue Jackets. Jay McClement also had two goals and Carlo Colaiacovo added two assists for St. Louis, who beat Columbus for the fifth straight time. Fedor Tyutin had a goal and assist and R.J. Umberger scored for Columbus. The Blue Jackets, trying to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race, have lost two in a row. The Blues, who lost 4-3 in a shootout to Detroit on Monday, have points in seven of eight (5-1-2) as they try to climb out of the Western Conference basement. Columbus goalie Steve Mason made his 19th straight start despite fighting off mononucleosis.
Islanders 3, Lightning 1
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Yann Danis stopped 29 shots and the Islanders won their season-best fourth straight game. Trent Hunter, Mike Comrie and Radek Martinek scored in the second period for the Islanders. The Lightning have lost three consecutive games after winning three in a row. Vincent Lecavalier had Tampa Bay’s only goal against New York.
Capitals 5, Devils 2
NEWARK, N.J. — Michael Nylander scored two goals and the Capitals snapped the Devils’ season-high eight-game winning streak. Defenseman Mike Green scored for the fourth straight game, Alex Ovechkin added two assists and the Capitals converted three of four power plays in winning their third straight game. Brooks Laich and Eric Fehr also scored and Jose Theodore made 32 saves in handing the Devils their first loss since Jan. 11.
Panthers 4, Maple Leafs 3, OT
TORONTO — Bryan McCabe scored 3:30 into overtime against his former team, giving the Panthers a victory. McCabe raced up the left wing and his slap shot went off Vesa Toskala’s arm before trickling over the goal line for his 10th of the season. Gregory Campbell, Stephen Weiss and Cory Stillman also scored for Florida, which trailed 3-1 heading into the final period. Niklas Hagman, Alexei Ponikarovsky and Nik Antropov had Toronto’s goals.
Thrashers 2, Rangers 1, SO
NEW YORK — Kari Lehtonen made 39 saves and then stopped two more shots in the shootout, shaking off a late blown lead and leading the Thrashers. The Thrashers were primed to win 1-0 on Joe Motzko’s third-period goal before Markus Naslund got the Rangers even with only 10.7 seconds remaining in regulation. Naslund then started the shootout with a goal, but Lehtonen turned aside Nikolai Zherdev and Fredrik Sjostrom. Bryan Little and Slava Kozlov scored on Atlanta’s attempts to help the Thrashers snap a four-game losing streak. New York has lost three straight.
Predators 2, Coyotes 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jason Arnott and Radek Bonk scored to lead the Predators. Joel Perrault scored Phoenix’s goal. The Predators have won their past two games. It was the fourth straight loss for Phoenix.
