Who are we trying to fool?

Who are we trying to fool?

EDITOR:

When people use the expression, “The greatest nation on earth,” I cringe. If there was a “greatest nation on earth,” it would be a problem, not a solution.

Is any person or nation worth less in God’s heart than another? Some people have achieved great things and others have failed miserably. That is true. Does God favor one over the other?

“God bless America.” Our politicians repeat that mantra, especially when we are about to do something horrible to some other weaker nation: a war, an invasion, a CIA coup, a targeted assassination, torture or other malicious deeds done under the cover of darkness.

The darkness I mention is the darkness of our “free press,” which is supposed to throw light upon such misdeeds. Instead the press plays along and covers up the truth. Truth Itself has become a national security liability.

It is not enough that the people be deceived. God Himself must be deceived. Thus we have “religious” leaders invoking God for war and destruction, for campaigns of hate and hysteria. Apparently by praising God and appealing to His vanity we can get Him to go along with our destruction and greed.

Israel launched a wave of destruction over the entire population of Gaza, killing and wounding thousands, driving a million and a half people into desperation and madness. The minute the killing started, the American politicians and media went to work blocking all efforts to save the victims from this Holocaust lest one “guilty” person be allowed to escape from his punishment. We have seen schools and playgrounds bombed to the ground, medics and ambulances attacked, entire families herded into a house only to become the target of Israeli destruction. We have seen hundreds of little children with blood spattered over their bodies and faces, all this with the blessing and approval of American politicians and diplomats, and by extension, the approval of God Himself.

Take a look at “the greatest nation on earth.” Take a look at the “Chosen People.” Take a good look. This is what we have become. Now tell me that God can be fooled into supporting this travesty.

Unplowed streets aren’t news

EDITOR:

Somebody wrote in and said that her street never gets plowed. So what?

I work in Youngstown but live in Boardman. Why? Because I got tired of Youngstown’s excuse for snow removal. The administration of Youngstown does not care about the people in Youngstown.

You are supposed to pay your taxes and shut up about it.

My daughter lives on Mistletoe on the South Side. Midlothian is one street over. She has a city police office across the street from her. She is lucky to get her street plowed all winter.

This is why you never see streets paved in the city.

Spending isn’t the answer

EDITOR:

I am afraid big government is here to stay. We will never be as free as we are today. There will be more laws and regulations for us to follow.

Also, the stimulus package will not work. I guarantee it. We are in massive debt and spending more money will not make it better.

The real answer would be to stop spending and reduce taxes.
