Lisbon battles back behind Bowker to beat Crestview, 56-52


LISBON — Chelsea Bowker scored 28 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in leading the Crestview High School girls basketball team to a 56-52 victory over Lisbon Saturday in a Inter-Tri-County League Tier One game in the Blue Devils’ gymnasium.

Lisbon (10-4, 6-4), behind 36-24 at halftime time battled back to tie the score 43-43 at the end of the third quarter. Crestview (14-2, 9-1) bounced right back to outscore the Blue Devils 13-9 for the victory.

The two schools combined to shoot 62 free throws. Crestview made 22-of-38 and Lisbon was 12-of-24.

Bowker connected on 10-of-18 free throws. Shanelle Davner, who tossed in 6-of-7, and Hillary Phillis added 10 points apiece.

Megan Reynolds, who made 3-of-5 free throws, paced Lisbon with 21 points.

Newton Falls 55, Girard 36

GIRARD — The Tigers (13-3) fell behind 10-3 in the first quarter, but bounced back to go ahead 22-13 by intermission as they continued unbeaten (7-0) and in first place in All-American Conference Tier Blue. Kelsey McGregor scored a game-high 22 points and she grabbed 13 rebounds Destiny Prusky added 16 points.

Emily Smerchansky paced the Indians (3-11, 0-4) with 13 points. Desraee DeFrank pulled down 15 rebounds.
