Westbounds lanes of I-80 in Venango County to reopen by midnight
CLINTONVILLE, PA. — Pennsylvania State Police said the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Venango County should be open to traffic by midnight.
A bulk tank being hauled by a truck tractor split open as the rig traveled west shortly after noon today, spilling its load of hydrofluoric acid, a corrosive used primarily in the finishing and etching of glass, just east of the Mercer County line.
No injuries were reported, but the acid ran into nearby streams and hazardous material cleanup crews were working to contain the spill. The westbound lanes remained closed while that work was done.
