Islanders 2, Blue Jackets 1, SO

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Rob Schremp scored the only goal in the shootout and Dwayne Roloson made 41 saves to give the Islanders a win over Columbus. Josh Bailey scored his first goal in more than a month for the Islanders. R.J. Umberger’s backhand goal with 10:13 left in regulation salvaged a point for the Blue Jackets, who are 2-13 in December and have lost 10 of 11 overall. The Islanders won for just the third time in the last eight home games while the Blue Jackets lost their 12th straight on the road. Schremp, who has just one regulation goal in 18 games, beat Steve Mason off a forehand deke after Jeff Tambellini and Frans Nielsen shot wide.

Predators 4, Blues 3

ST. LOUIS — Shea Weber assisted on three of Nashville’s four straight goals and the Predators held off the Blues. Marcel Goc, Patric Hornqvist, Joel Ward and J.P. Dumont all scored for the Predators, who are 24-6-3 against St. Louis since 2005-06. The Blues, who got a goal and an assist from Alex Steen and goals from Carlo Colaiacovo and Andy McDonald, own the league’s worst home record at 6-13-2. They’ve lost seven of their last eight at home. Pekka Rinne stopped 24 shots for the Predators.

Stars 5, Blackhawks 4

DALLAS — Steve Ott had two goals, including a tiebreaking power-play tally early in the third period to help Dallas end Chicago’s three-game winning streak. Ott skated up the middle, split two defenders, and fired a wrist shot past Antti Niemi to make it 5-4 at 4:07 of the final period. Loui Eriksson and Ott scored for the Stars in a 35-second span early in the second period. Dallas’ Mike Modano added his 549th goal, tying Ron Francis for 25th on the career list. Mike Ribeiro also scored and Brad Richards had two assists for the Stars, 7-1-2 in their last 10 at home.
