Ohio models get naked, cold for photographer

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Models for photographer Spencer Tunick typically must get naked in public.

His latest subjects have had the added challenge of stripping down out in the Ohio winter.

Amid snow and temperatures in the teens, a man and a woman shed their clothes for Tunick’s art Monday morning near downtown Akron, at a construction site and a wooded area by a restaurant.

After posing nude for five photos, model Jen Maurer said she could not imagine what it was like to go down in the icy water on board the Titanic.

The holidays brought Tunick to northeast Ohio because his wife is from Akron. He says he enjoys shooting people naked in industrial cities because of the “beautiful contrast.”

The artist is best known for his photos of large groups of nudes in public spaces.
