MINERAL RIDGE — Weathersfield Township trustees have approved donating $1,500 to Niles Community Services, 401 Vienna Ave., Niles.

The Niles group provides food, clothing and other assistance to people in need, and Weathersfield Township residents are among those in its service area.

Trustees also approved a $100 donation to the Trumbull Township Association.

Concert at St. Charles

BOARDMAN — The music ministry at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, will present its annual Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Participating in “A Choral Symphony” will be St. Charles’ adult and children’s choirs and youth orchestra, handbells group, contemporary ensemble and Life Teen music ensemble.

The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.

Facing various charges

BOARDMAN — A Youngstown man faces four felony charges after a traffic stop.

Dimetrius J. Morris, 25, of McGuffey Road, was in the Mahoning County jail on charges of illegal weapon possession, carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property and trafficking in crack cocaine.

About 11 a.m. Sunday, a township police officer stopped the car Morris was driving at Stanton Avenue and Southern Boulevard. The vehicle’s license plate returned to a different vehicle, a police report said.

Police found a scale, a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and two bags containing suspected crack cocaine. The officer also found a handgun, which had been reported stolen in Youngstown, in Morris’ other pocket, the report said.

His passenger, Tierra L. McIntosh, 23, of Milwaukee, Wis., had an active probation- violation warrant from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department. She was arrested, too.

Shooting in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating a shooting that landed a Youngstown man in the hospital.

Juan Rivera Torres, 20, of West Warren Avenue, Youngstown, was shot about 3:30 p.m. Christmas Eve at the Splash and Shine carwash on East Midlothian Boulevard.

A witness told police that three men were talking at the carwash when one of them pulled a gun and shot one of the others several times.

The gunman ran, and the third man helped the victim into a vehicle before it left the scene, the witness said.

Police were notified by St. Elizabeth Health Center a short time later that a man, later identified as Rivera Torres, was being treated for gunshot wounds. No information about Rivera Torres’ condition was available from the hospital.

Robberies in Warren

WARREN — Two armed robberies were reported in the city over the holiday weekend.

A delivery driver for a Mahoning Avenue tavern reported that about 2 a.m. Christmas Day, he was delivering food to a Douglas Street house when a man and woman flagged him down. The man pulled a gun, took the food and fled on foot with the woman.

About 11 p.m. Saturday, two women and a man were standing in the parking lot of a business in the 1600 block of North Park Avenue near Idylwild Street when two men, one masked, approached. The masked man pulled a gun and demanded money, but the three victims had nothing to give.

As the robbers walked away, the gunman fired at them from about 75 feet away. The would-be robbers got into a vehicle and left.

Warriors Inc. workshop

YOUNGSTOWN — Warriors Inc. is offering a workshop that teaches people how to manage money.

The workshop is four Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning next Tuesday at Warriors Inc. headquarters, 2733 Market St.
