Lawrence Co. dog-license deadline nears
STAFF REPORT
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — There’s still a week left to get Lawrence County dog licenses for 2010.
License-renewal applications have been sent out, and dog owners can get licenses through the mail.
They also are available at the treasurer’s office and at four other locations: Critter Corner, 100 Wilmington Ave., New Castle; the Lawrence County Humane Society, Pearson Mill Road, New Castle; Pet Parlor, 4466 Mitchell Road, New Castle; and Sherry’s Pet Shop, 14 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City.
License costs are $8, or $6 for senior citizens; and $6 for a neutered dog, or $4 for a senior citizen with a neutered dog. The deadline is Jan. 1.
People also can contribute to the Lawrence County Animal Relief Fund when they buy their licenses through the mail or at the county treasurer’s office.
LC-ARF was established in 2008 as a fund to help homeless, abused and neglected animals. County treasurer Richard Rapone is its president.
Donations will be used for hiring of a part-time or full-time humane officer; local shelters and organizations dedicated to the rescue and care of abused animals; and operational expenses, according to its Web site.
Donations can be mailed to LC-ARF, P.O. Box 8514, New Castle, PA 16107.
