Public voting begins for Vocal Group hall

SHARON, Pa. — Voting is open for induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame’s class of 2008 and 2009. Members of the public can cast ballots by going to vocalgroup.org and clicking on the Vote button.

The deadline to vote is Jan. 15.

The winners will be announced around Valentine’s Day, said Bob Crosby, president of the VGHF. The date and location of the induction ceremony has not yet been determined, he said.

Ninety-five nominees are on the budget in five categories: The 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s and Duo.

Voters must select two nominees from each category.

Stars of Tomorrow will return to playhouse

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Stars of Tomorrow, the annual talent show that showcases local students, will be Jan. 9 at New Castle Playhouse, 212 E. Long Ave. The show is directed by Vaughn Hudspath. There will be two performances: 2 and 7:30 p.m. For reservations, call (724) 654-3437. Tickets are $15.

Tickets are on sale for Cirque EOS show

YOUNGSTOWN — Tickets are on sale for Cirque EOS “Imaginaire,” which comes to Powers Auditorium at 8 p.m. Feb. 27.

The circus-style troupe includes jugglers, acrobats, balancing artists and high-flyers, each mixing originality and humor on the stage.

‘Musical Valentines’ coming to Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN — “Musical Valentines,” the next Sundays at Stambaugh event, will be Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day. The duo of Nancy Paterson, harpist, and Linda Madsen, flutist, will reprise their performance of last year. The program is in Christman Hall of Stambaugh Auditorium. It will begin at 12:15 p.m. with a lunch catered by Rosetta Stone. The performance will follow.

‘Blessings of Survivors’ authors at mall shop

BOARDMAN — The authors of “Blessings of Survivors and Friends” will be at the AwwwMazing Place in Southern Park mall from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The book is a compilation of writings from people touched by cancer.
