No. 1 Kansas 84, California 69

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Sherron Collins keyed a late surge to finish with 17 points and Kansas overcame a rare quiet game from its bench. Kansas (11-0) came into the game as one of the deepest teams in the country, with its reserves averaging 29.3 points per game. Even with coach Bill Self rotating players like a tag-team wrestling match, the Jayhawks’ subs couldn’t get much going, combining for 18 points.

No. 5 Syracuse 92, Oakland, Mich. 60

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Freshman guard Brandon Triche had a season-high 27 points and Wes Johnson added 19 points and 11 rebounds, to lead Syracuse. Syracuse (12-0) has a week before it opens Big East play at Seton Hall. Oakland (6-7) dropped to 0-11 against the Big East in losing its third game to a ranked team this season. The Golden Grizzlies lost on the road to top-ranked Kansas and Michigan State. Syracuse took control with a 17-4 run that began midway through the first half, with Triche and Johnson each scoring eight points, then pulled away in the second.

No. 10 North Carolina 98, Marshall 61

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Ed Davis had 19 points and 10 rebounds while fellow big man Tyler Zeller matched a career high with 18 points to lead North Carolina. Marcus Ginyard and Deon Thompson added 14 points apiece and Will Graves had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (9-3). They shook off a sloppy start and broke open a surprisingly close game by scoring 18 straight points early in the second half and holding Marshall without a field goal for roughly 5 1/2 minutes.

No. 11 Connecticut 71, Maine 54

HARTFORD, Conn. — Jerome Dyson scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half when Connecticut pulled away. Stanley Robinson added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Huskies (8-2), who broke from a 26-all halftime tie. Kemba Walker had nine assists for UConn, but scored four points on 1-of-10 shooting from the field. Terrance Mitchell had 13 points to lead Maine (5-5).

South Alabama 67, No. 18 Florida 66

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Tim Williams scored 21 points, DeAndre Hersey had a putback with 1.8 seconds remaining and South Alabama stunned Florida. Williams drove through the lane in the closing seconds, but his shot clanged off the rim. Florida failed to block out Hersey, who grabbed the rebound and put it back up for the game winner.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Mike Singletary scored 24 of his season-high 28 points in the second half to lift Texas Tech, keeping the Red Raiders unbeaten at home.

No. 24 Clemson 79, Western Carolina 57

CLEMSON, S.C. — Trevor Booker scored a season-high 31 points and his brother Devin added 10 to lead Clemson. The Tigers (11-2) have won four straight, each by double digits. The Catamounts (10-2) trailed 56-51 with 8 minutes to go when the Bookers took over.
