AUSTIN, Texas — Damion James had 23 points and 13 rebounds, leading Texas to consecutive wins over Top 10 teams. Like the victory over No. 10 North Carolina on Saturday, James led this one. He followed his 25 points and 15 rebounds against the Tar Heels with another big showing to rally the Longhorns (11-0) from an early deficit. Chris Allen had 12 points for the Spartans (9-3), who couldn’t beat Texas for a fourth straight year. The Longhorns hadn’t played a ranked opponent before last weekend and now have impressive wins over two of the nation’s best.
No. 4 Purdue 90, SIU-Edwardsville 63
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — JaJuan Johnson scored 16 points and E’Twaun Moore added 15, leading Purdue. The Boilermakers (11-0) matched the second-best start in school history and the longest winning streak under coach Matt Painter. The 1936-37 Boilermakers were 11-0 and the 1993-94 Boilermakers started 14-0.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Brett Harvey converted a four-point play and made a pair of free throws in the final two minutes, lifting Loyola, Md. Harvey finished with 25 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Jamal Barney scored 13 for the Greyhounds (6-5), who raced out to a 15-0 lead and led by 24 in the first half. It was Loyola’s first victory over a Big Ten opponent, having lost their past seven tries.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Stu Douglass scored 20 points and DeShawn Sims added 18 as Michigan routed Coppin State for their 500th win at Crisler Arena.

EVANSTON, Ill. — John Shurna scored a career-high 29 points as Northwestern (10-1) earned its ninth straight victory and its best start in 79 years.
