Poland Walgreen's extends hours

POLAND — A McKinley Way drug store can offer extended hours for Christmas shoppers, village officials have determined.

Walgreens had approached the village about extending by two hours its hours Dec. 22 through Dec. 24. The store will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight. After researching the question, Anthony D’Apolito, village solicitor, determined that the agreement limited the store’s hours to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. was made between the store and the village’s board of zoning appeals, which has the right to alter the agreement.

The board conducted a meeting last week and decided to grant the store’s request, said Council President Joe Mazur, a BZA member.

“We said, ‘No problem,’” Mazur said. “They’re a good neighbor.”
