Kent St. snaps two-game skid; McNees leads Zips

KENT — Rodriguez Sherman scored 16 points, leading five players in double figures as Kent State outlasted Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 85-76 on Sunday night.
Chris Singletary added 14 points, Mike McKee 13, Tyree Evans 11 and Anthony Simpson 10 for the Golden Flashes (6-4), who snapped their first two-game losing skid of the season.
Kevin Palmer led the Islanders with 25 points, hitting five 3-pointers.
Akron 80, St. Francis, Pa. 51
AKRON — Steve McNees (Shenango) scored 17 points and 12 Akron players scored for the Zips.
Akron (6-3) hit 11 3-pointers, held St. Francis to six first-half field goals and shot 68.2 percent from the field (15-for-22) in the second half for its third consecutive victory.
Brett McClanahan scored 11 points and Jimmy Conyers added 10 points for the Zips, who led by 34 points with 6:05 left in the game.
Loyola, SIU-Edwardsville 61
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Terrance Hill scored 23 points and Walt Gibler had 22, and Loyola of Chicago pulled away in the second half to defeat Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Loyola led 36-29 at the half, and it was still seven points with 13 minutes remaining when the Ramblers went on a 14-0 run to put the game out of reach. Marcus Thomas scored seven of his 12 points in that stretch.
