Kiwanis Club begins with service project

CANFIELD — The Kiwanis Club of Western Mahoning County will staff a food concession at Canfield High School on First Night Canfield.

The club has chosen “Read Around the World” as its service project for the new year. Members participating in the project will read selected books to preschoolers at area centers. The project is recognized by Kiwanis International, which partners with Reading is Fundamental.

The club will also sponsor a Canfield Speech Tournament at the high school on Jan. 9. Recently members served as bell ringers with members of sponsored key clubs at North Jackson High School and Canfield High School. They also volunteered to serve with Santa at Farmers National Bank.

Meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. each Wednesday at A La Cart. Anyone interested in the organization is asked to contact Barb Smith at (330) 502-1460.
