Sade knows how to make an entrance. “Soldier of Love” (Epic), her first new music since 2000, manages the mean feat of sounding current and timeless. The way she tames the menacing hip-hop backdrop and the occasional guitar attacks with her trademark ultracool, neo-jazzy delivery is impressive enough. The fact that her approach actually backs up the lyrics of “Still waiting for love to come, turn it all around” makes it a late entry for the year’s best single.
