Insurance pacts OK’d

MINERAL RIDGE — The Weathersfield school board has approved new contracts for property, casualty, general and automotive liability insurance that will save the district $6,000 through 2010 over 2009.

The new contracts, with Ohio Casualty (First Place Insurance), Warren, will total $61,906 and include fleet insurance, property insurance, additional coverage to general liability and automobile liability.

The total insurance bill is reduced by $6,000, Superintendent Damon Dohar said, because the district has done “a good job with our rates and protecting our schools.” A low number of claims, he said, are attributable to both “luck, and working hard to keeping the schools maintained.”
