Volunteers needed for Polar Bear Jump
Volunteers needed for Polar Bear Jump
CANFIELD — The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help plan and organize the Polar Bear Jump.
A date and location for the event have not been confirmed. It will most likely be on a Saturday afternoon sometime between January and March at a frozen lake or pond in Mahoning County.
The Polar Bear Jump gives people of all ages the opportunity to jump into the water of a frozen lake or pond — for a good cause, of course. Some of the ice is cut away and removed for participants to take part. They are asked to raise at least $25 each. Proceeds will be used in the fight against cancer.
Radio stations K105 and Hot 101 FM will help promote the jump once a date and location are confirmed.
To get involved contact La Dawn Whitman, income development coordinator of the American Cancer Society, toll free at (888) 227-6446, Ext. 2204 or e-mail her at lawdawn.whitman@cancer.org.
