Students from the college’s media-aesthetics class interviewed representatives from agencies throughout western Pennsylvania, reviewed applications, organized presentations, and awarded three grants.

The initiative focused on equipping students to become engaged citizens and to understand the important roles that art and philanthropy play in the health of local communities.

The Hoyt Institute will utilize the grant for its After School Arts program, which makes scholarships available for fourth- through 12th-grade students to study drawing, painting and ceramics. The program is in its second year.
