Menacing: A woman picking up her daughter at a Smithsonian Street home reported two men had threatened her.
Dec. 14
Burglary: A man returned to discover a break-in at his apartment in the 500 block of Park Avenue. Stolen were Nintendo Wii and Xbox game systems, for a $700 loss.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s passenger-side window was smashed in the 100 block of Elruth Court, resulting in $300 worth of damage.
Dec. 15
Theft: A man reported his cell phone stolen while in the 400 block of Church Hill Road.
Theft: An East Main Street woman reported two digital cameras, two cell phones and $40 stolen from her residence.
Theft: A Patricia Drive woman discovered a $4,000 wedding ring/band missing.
LIBERTY
Dec. 11
Robbery: A Hubbard woman was slightly injured after reporting a man had grabbed her purse at a Belmont Avenue store and fled.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone pried open a door jamb to a garage in the 1900 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road.
Criminal damaging: A man on Goldie Road returned to his car to find damage to its passenger-side mirror and scratches to the passenger side. Damage was estimated at $2,500.
Theft: A $200 saw and a snow blower were removed from a garage in the 2100 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road.
Dec. 12
Drugs: Authorities pulled over a vehicle near Colonial Drive and charged 26-year-old Paxton Phillips, 1004 Liberty Road, Youngstown, with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. A suspected marijuana cigar and a digital scale with residue were found, a report said.
Menacing: The manager of a Liberty Avenue apartment complex reported a former tenant made multiple threats after having been evicted.
Possible auto theft: A Green Acres Drive man said he believed his 2000 Ford Focus had been stolen.
Criminal damaging: An undetermined object was used to strike, dent a vehicle’s passenger-side door and cause roughly $2,000 worth of damage in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue.
Recovered property: A Sampson Road man found a red bicycle in his yard.
Dec. 13
Arrest: Cortland police handed 46-year-old Elmer L. Smith, 2050 Sandpiper Drive, Warren, to township authorities. Smith was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging him with failure to appear in court on a probation-violation count.
Theft: A Youngstown man, 47, was detained after a $28 pair of steel-toed boots was stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road. He had not been charged at the time of the report, however.
Burglary: In the 30 block of James Lane, where a $600 laptop computer and two DVDs were stolen.
Assault: A Girard girl, 16, was charged after a teacher alleged the teen struggled with her in a restroom as the accuser tried to remove the girl’s cell phone, forcing the teacher into a wall. The teen violated the school’s policy on cell-phone use, a report showed.
Assault: A teacher at W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road, told police a female student punched the left side of her face and neck as the accuser tried to protect another student the girl had gone after.
Dec. 14
Drugs: Officers investigated two suspicious men near Goldie Road and charged Damian Echols, 35, of 235 Upland Ave., Youngstown, with possession of marijuana. Found were two bags of suspected marijuana and two suspected marijuana cigars, a report said.
Theft: Two boys were detained after two compact discs and a DVD were stolen from Wal-Mart.
Theft: Someone removed a $430 Blackberry phone from a display case at Verizon Wireless, 4686 Belmont Ave.
Bad check: A worker for the MetroPlex Hotel and Convention Center, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, reported a man used a check to pay for $752 worth of services, but that the check was returned for insufficient funds.
Dec. 15
Thefts: Two employees of a township restaurant reported a total of $73 had been removed from their purses.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Chrysann Drive woman said her son took and failed to return her 1992 Chevrolet.
Criminal damaging: Someone cut and damaged a lock and hasp to a rental unit in the 4000 block of Madison Road.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old William J. Exline, 53 Skoplee St., Girard, when police learned he was wanted in Mahoning County on a felony parole-violation charge.
