Fire alarm malfunction closes Go Go Cabaret
AUSTINTOWN — The township fire department shut down the Go Go Cabaret due to a faulty fire alarm system.
Fire Chief Andy Frost Jr. said a call about the club’s fire alarm continuously sounding came in to the department at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, all employees and patrons of the club and the adjoining hotel Economy Inn were evacuated for safety reasons, Frost said.
He said because the alarm system has been in need of repairs for nearly a year and was deemed unsafe, the club was shut down until further notice.
“The alarms kept going off, and no one there pays attention to it,” Frost said. “We’ve had problems with it time and time again.”
He said the Go Go will remain closed until the alarm is reinstalled and certified by a certified alarm company and inspected by the fire department and State Fire Marshal’s office.
