New restaurant to open

LORDSTOWN — A ribbon- cutting ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday to mark the opening of Brent’s Southern Grille, 1500 Salt Springs Road. Brent’s is a carry-out barbecue restaurant featuring home-cooked meals with a Southern flair. Included on the menu are grilled ribs and chicken, hamburgers, wraps and jambalaya.

The owner is Brenton Gadson, 22, who holds an associate degree in specialized technologies in culinary arts from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. After graduation, Gadson completed an internship at Pinehurst Golf Resort and Country Club in North Carolina and worked as a sous chef/kitchen supervisor at Sea Brook Island Gated Golf Community and Resort.

Ribbon-cutting at store

GIRARD — Karen Neemergut will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Tuesday for her new store, Karen’s Joy Vintage & More, 26 E. Liberty St., Girard. The store carries a wide array of merchandise, including vintage furniture, linens, dresser scarves and jewelry. Additionally, Karen’s offers a variety of edible items, such as soup, instant cheesecake mixes, gourmet jams and flavored coffees. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
