Poland boys win, Canfield loses


UNIONTOWN — Niko Fatimus scored 24 points and Ben Donlow added 17 to lead Poland High’s boys basketball team to a 76-65 victory over Louisville on Saturday night.

David Baker had 13 rebounds for Poland while Donlow added 12. Baker also had four blocked shots and Luke Wollet had seven assists and three assists.

The Bulldogs (2-0) led 46-27 at halftime.

Lake 62, Canfield 53

UNIONTOWN — Mike Podolsky scored 18 points to lead Canfield at the Hoops 4 Healing tournament hosted by Lake.

Joe Hoelzel added 12 points and Justin Vrabel scored 11 for the Cardinals (1-1). Lake is 2-1.

Wrestling

PAINESVILLE — West Branch won the Riverside Rumble and had two individual champions.

Jake Mellinger (130 pounds) and Adam Lamancusa (160) won titles for the Warriors, who scored 393 points. Riverside was second with 321.

Dustin Graham (112), JP Hoops (135), Tyler Strawser (145) and Nathan Gambone (285) all finished second, while Braycen Shelton (119) and Aaron Robbins (171) were each third.

DJ Anderson (103), Chad Hupp (125), Ed Glasser (140) and Clayton Bates (285) were all fourth, and Mike Estock (130) and William Paynter (152) both finished fifth.
