CLEVELAND — Jared Cunningham scored 18 points and Norris Cole 16 as Cleveland State ended a five-game losing streak. The Vikings (4-6) dominated throughout, finishing the first half with a 20-5 run in the final 5:20 to take a 52-26 lead. They shot 66.7 percent (24-for-36) in the second half to continue to pull away. Nigel Ajere scored 14 points, Jeremy Montgomery 12, D’Aundray Brown (Ursuline) 11 and Trevon Harmon 10 as six Cleveland State players scored in double figures and all 12 Vikings scored. Cleveland State had a 40-18 advantage in rebounds and forced 25 turnovers by Wilberforce while committing 13. TyJaun Wallace scored 18 points and Taverius Wilkins 11 to lead Wilberforce.
Valparaiso 81, Toledo 49
VALPARAISO, Ind. — Brandon McPherson and Cory Johnson scored 15 points each to lead Valparaiso. Johnson added nine rebounds, and Brandon Wood had 13 points for the Crusaders (4-6), who bounced back after consecutive losses against ranked schools Butler and Purdue. Jordan Dressler and Malcolm Griffin had nine points apiece for Toledo (3-8). The Rockets, whose only lead was 2-0, shot 37 percent (17 of 46) from the floor and had 18 turnovers.
Loyola of Chicago 66, San Francisco 63
CHICAGO — Geoff McCammon scored 21 points and Loyola of Chicago held off San Francisco. Andy Polka scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Ramblers (6-2). McCammon was 9-for-13 from the field. Dior Lowhorn scored 20 points to lead San Francisco (3-7). Angelo Caloiaro scored 11, Kwame Vaughn 10 and Perris Blackwell had nine points and nine rebounds for the Dons. Loyola led after McCammon’s shot gave the Ramblers an early 8-7 lead, but never led by more than 11 points. The lead was down to one point three times in the second half, including 64-63 in the final seconds, but Terrance Hill made two free throws after a technical foul was called against the San Francisco bench. Caloiaro missed a 3-pointer that would have forced overtime.
