Kiger scores 24 to lead Ridge past Springfield
MINERAL RIDGE — Zach Kiger scored 11 of his 24 points in the second quarter as the Mineral Ridge High boys basketball team outscored Springfield 15-7 en route to a 63-54 victory in an Inter Tri-County League Tier One game on Friday.
Jim Zubick scored 12 points and Tanner Avnet had 11 for Springfield (0-2, 0-1).
South Range 70, Lisbon 60, OT
LISBON — Kyle Seaver tossed in 21 points and Peter Dinh scored 17 points as South Range outscored Lisbon 21-11 in the overtime session to win a Tier One game.
The Raiders trailed 38-32 entering the fourth quarter.
Todd Padurean scored 25 points with five assists and William Bowyer had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Blue Devils.
Crestview 62, United 59
COLUMBIANA — Adam Coppock scored 16 points, Tristan Reynolds had 13 and Brian Orr scored 10 to lead Crestview, which made 12 of 21 at the line compared to just 2 of 14 for United.
Zac Strong had 18 for the Golden Eagles and Jansen Sneltzer added 15.
Southern 58, Western Reserve 52
BERLIN CENTER — Jake Boyle’s 20 points set the pace for Souther, which toppled Western Reserve.
Eric Baker added 14 for Southern (3-0).
Jake Barker was the game’s top scorer for the Blue Devils with 25 points.
Lowellville 85, Jackson-Milton 39
LOWELLVILLE — Lowellville improved to 2-1 on the year as Mauro Amendola led the way with 23 points and Joe Harris added 17 for the Rockets against Jackson-Milton.
Bobby Schnellback had 12 points to lead the Bluejays.
Mass. Perry 59, Boardman 47
BOARDMAN — Josh Gotshell had 11 points and Joey DiCiccio added 10 to lead a balanced attack for the Panthers (2-1, 1-0 Federal League).
John Fithian scored 14 points for Boardman (1-1, 0-1), which made just 11 of 29 free throws and scored just 28 points through three quarters.
Chase Hammond added 10 points.
Lakeview 59, Girard 55
GIRARD — Louie Novakovich had 14 points and Zach McDivitt 12 for Lakeview, which rallied from a 17-11 first quarter deficit to lead 30-26 at halftime.
Joe Augustine scored 23 points for Girard (1-2) and Adam Charles added 16.
Niles 73, Jefferson 48
NILES — Ryan Frantz scored 30 points including seven 3-point goals as Niles rolled easily past Jefferson.
David Allen added 15 and Cory Floyd 10 for the Dragons.
Cory Prine led Jefferson with 17 points.
Struthers 83, Newton Falls 62
STRUTHERS — Matt Durkin tossed in 25 points and Nate Jacubec added 19 more as Struthers coasted past Newton Falls.
The Wildcats made nine 3-point goals led by Jacubec’s four and Durkin’s three.
Newton Falls was led by Brian Sole with 14 points, including four 3-point goals.
Salem 78, Beaver Local 53
SALEM — Jake Madison scored 24 points, including 13 of 14 from the free throw line, to lead Salem, which outscored Beaver Local 43-27 in the second half.
Mike King added 21 points and Trent Toothman 14.
For Beaver Local, Travis Lynch scored 19 points.
Kennedy Catholic 51, Warren JFK 43
WARREN — Rock Farmintino had 15 points and Jake Penn 12 as Kennedy Catholic stopped Warren JFK.
Justin Rahim added 11 for the Eagles (1-0).
Pat Hall and Carl Broadbent had 11 points each for JFK (0-3).
Lordstown 52, Bristol 48
LORDSTOWN — Steven Cribley had 13 points, Zach Wells had 12 and Chris Polivka had 11 for Lordstown (2-0), which made 24 of 42 free throws to stay unbeaten.
Tyler Oliver had 15 points for Bristol (0-2).
Alliance 64, West Branch 45
BELOIT — Rabron Fountain led the way with 20 points as Alliance toppled West Branch.
Dom Cooper added 14 for the Aviators (2-0).
West Branch (2-1) was led by Tyler Rockwell with 15 points.
