Santa to attend breakfast in Canfield
Canfield Fire Women’s Auxiliary will present its Second Annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday at McMahon Hall in Canfield.
Pancakes, sausage and coffee, milk and juice will be served. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 3 and up, and free for those 2 and under. Seatings will be at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and at noon.
Crafts and a Chinese auction will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photos with Santa are $7 for one child, and $10 for 2 or more in a group shot.

Brick sale nears end
The Ursuline Center in Canfield will end its brick sale fundraiser on Jan. 1. Until then, the bricks are available for $20 each to raise funds for renovations to the swimming pool.
To date more than $10,000 has been raised from the sale of the commemorative bricks.

Tales to Tails Dec. 21
Readers of all levels and abilities are welcome to sign up to read to registered therapy dogs at the Canfield Library. The program will be held Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. and is designed to build confidence and encourage reading.

D.A.R. to collect articles for veterans
Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mahoning Chapter, are asked to take CDs and white socks for veterans to the Dec. 14 meeting at A La Cart Catering. Sgt. Jim Conrad will speak on safety tips for women.
At the Nov. 9 meeting Dr. Anita Gorman spoke about Jane Austen, Peggy Oberholtzer gave the President General’s address, and the national defense report was presented by Joann Cook.
Nancy Finley, who has given American flags to new citizens for the past 20 years, was recognized at the meeting.
Library offers ‘brilliant’ programs

The Canfield Library will host two Baby Brillant programs this week for children of various ages.
“Baby Brilliant: Bonding with Babies and Book” is for babies ages 6 to 23 months and will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. “Baby Brilliant: Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s” is for children ages 2 to 3 and will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. “Fun Time for 4s and 5s” is also on Tuesday, but at 1:30 p.m.
During all of these programs, the library will provide developmentally approriate books, songs, rhymes and other activities aimed to help children grow as readers. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pet pictures with Santa
CANFIELD
Pet owners will have an opportunity to have their pet’s picture taken with Santa on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Come Stay and Play Pet Resort, 3150 S. Raccoon Road.
The cost for each photo is $5, and proceeds will benefit C.H.A.I.N. (Community Helping Animals in Need).
Local students collect ‘koins’ for hospital

Students at Canfield High School joined more than 20 other schools in the tri-country area to fundraise for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
Handel’s “Koins for Kids” campaign will benefit the hospital, and participating schools were sent paper snowman ornaments to use in fundraising efforts. The school that raises the most funds in each county, based on a percentage raised versus school enrollment, will receive an ice cream social and a DJ for a school dance.
The campaign ended Friday. Results will be released in late December, said JoAnn Stock, director of development at Akron Children’s Hospital of Mahoning Valley.
Jingle Bell Run

The Canfield Fairgrounds will be the site of a half-mile race and 5K run/walk to raise money for Hospice and The American Cancer Society.
The event will take place Dec. 31 and all participants will receive an award.
A kids race will start at 12:45 p.m. At 1 p.m., the 5K walk will begin. For further details, contact Christine Ignazio at 330-770-8351.
