CAMPBELL — Two suspects in several daytime burglaries over the past month are in custody, police said.
Nicholas Calloway, 30, of Hollywood Avenue in Youngstown, was already in the Mahoning County jail when Campbell police took out a warrant for his arrest Wednesday, said officer John Gulu.
Calloway is in jail on a burglary charge from Boardman. He is charged in the Oct. 17 break-in of an Arden Boulevard home there.
Also arrested and arraigned Tuesday was Ceira Buckner, 21, of Ferndale Avenue in Youngstown. She is a suspected accomplice, Gulu said. She turned herself in at the Campbell police station after warrants were issued for her arrest.
She is charged with burglary and felonious assault in a break-in at a Struthers-Liberty Road house Dec. 2.
A relative of the homeowners who knew they weren’t at home confronted her in a vehicle in the driveway, police said. The woman was almost run over trying to stop Buckner from leaving, police said. The relative identified Buckner later from a photo lineup, police said.
Buckner posted $500 cash, 10 percent of a $5,000 bond, according to court records. Her preliminary hearing is set in Campbell court for Dec. 18.
Calloway will be arraigned Friday in Campbell court.
Gulu said Calloway is suspected in at least four burglaries in Campbell, and Buckner is suspected of complicity in those burglaries.
There are other daytime burglaries in Boardman, Poland and Youngstown that the two were possibly involved in, Gulu said.
The burglars typically kicked or pried open doors while home-owners were at work and took jewelry and electronics.
Gulu said police are investigating others’ involvement, and the investigation could result in two or three more suspects.
