‘Young in Youngstown’ to air on WFMJ
YOUNGSTOWN — WFMJ-TV 21 presents a special show at 7 p.m. today called “Young in Youngstown: Hammering our Healthcare.”
WFMJ assignment manager Mollie McGovern hosts the show, which features local Young Democrats and Young Republicans debating different aspects of proposed healthcare legislation.
Vindicator columnist Betram de Souza and TV 21 News political analyst William Binning moderated the debate, which touched on aspects of health care from paying for abortions to including a public option in the bill.
Democratic Party panelists were Brandon Kovach, a senior from Austintown Fitch, Scott Williams, a freshman from Austintown Fitch, and Alley Bennett, a junior from Boardman High School.
Republican Party panelists were Mario Leone, Evan Beil, and Justin Wilkinson, all seniors from Boardman High School.
“Young in Youngstown” debuted in the fall of 2007. The show, which McGovern produces and hosts four times a year, was created to address topics of interest to young professionals. Past episodes have covered topics such as the job search, buying a home vs. renting, and the role of technology in people’s lives.
“Young in Youngstown: Hammering our Healthcare” also airs this Friday at 7pm on WBCB, The Valley’s CW.
