Time Warner is looking for a fair call from the NFL

EDITOR:

Time Warner Cable agrees with the NFL, which said in a Tuesday letter to the editor that a fair deal hasn’t been reached. The fact remains that Time Warner Cable subscribers have access to over 100 NFL games every year, only eight of which are carried on the NFL Network. We don’t dislike the product, or the NFL, but they are demanding an excessive amount of money for the number of games that a limited number of people will watch. We want a fair deal, too.

Our primary concern is our customers and their interests. In fact, our customers told us last year that they wanted more high definition channels, and that’s exactly want we delivered, adding more than 40 new HD channels with more on the way. Customers said they want control and we launched Start Over, an enhanced TV feature that gives customers the ability to restart a program in progress without pre-planning.

Programming costs are our largest expense, and we need to control those costs in order to control the cost to the customer. Time Warner Cable will continue to negotiate in the best interest of all customers until we reach a reasonable agreement for the NFL Network.

Which holiday was that?

EDITOR:

I have been a resident of Mahoning County for 75 years and I have never heard of a Holiday Parade. I do remember my parents taking me downtown to a Christmas Parade, like the one they have in New York and Philadelphia but I never heard of a Holiday Parade.

Is Youngstown combining Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Veterans Day, New Year’s Day and all the other holidays into one day? I know that Dec. 25 was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress and it is called Christmas. Let me be the first one to vote to bring back a Christmas Parade.

Anybody who wants to take Dec. 25 and combine that date with their holiday, tell them to go and get their own act of Congress, but we are having a Christmas Parade. Was that a Holiday tree or a Christmas tree that was lit up after that parade?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
