CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Italee Lucas scored 17 points to lead North Carolina. Cetera DeGraffenreid scored six of her 16 points during a decisive 12-2 run down the stretch for the Tar Heels (6-1). Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 13 points and Chay Shegog scored 12 points for North Carolina. Da’Shena Stevens scored 25 points to lead St. John’s (7-1), which had won its first seven games by an average margin of 22 points. Sky Lindsay added 11 points for the Red Storm, who trailed 45-33 at halftime and scored the first 11 points of the second half. The Red Storm tied the game at 65 on two free throws by Nadirah McKenith with 7:37 remaining, but DeGraffenried sparked a 12-2 run that put the Tar Heels ahead 77-67 with 4:26 left.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Angie Bjorklund had 15 points and Tennessee cruised. The Lady Volunteers (7-0) limited the Longhorns (5-3) to 30 percent shooting from the field, the lowest figure by any opponent this season. Tennessee shot 52.5 percent.

CINCINNATI — Amber Harris scored 17 points and Xavier extended its season-opening winning streak to a school-record seven games. Tyesha Moss added 14 points and Katie Rutan had 13 for Xavier (7-0) against its city rival. The Musketeers’ 2000-01 team had also started off 6-0. Shareese Ulis scored 14 points to lead the Bearcats (4-4).

BERKELEY, Calif. — Danielle Adams scored eight of her 15 points over the final 3:18 and Texas A&M rallied late for a hard-fought victory in the Colliers International Classic final.

No. 11 Duke 78, Southern California 72

DURHAM, N.C. — Jasmine Thomas scored 28 points to lead four players in double figures for Duke. Joy Cheek and Karima Christmas added 12 points each and Allison Vernerey had 10 for Duke (7-1), which trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and 10 in the second. Ashley Corral was 7 of 11 from 3-point range and had 26 points for the Trojans (4-4), who were looking for their third win over a ranked team this season.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Jacinta Monroe scored 14 points to lead Florida State. The Seminoles (8-0) held the Braves (0-5) to 27.3 percent shooting from the field and blocked eight shots, including five by Monroe. Alcorn State stayed close early, but Florida State outscored the Braves 17-6 over a 6:22 span in the first half to pull away.

ATHENS, Ga. — Porsha Phillips scored 14 points, including two free throws with 5.6 seconds left, to lead Georgia, which won despite shooting 38 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Dogs (8-0) came in shooting 74 percent from the line, but made only 13 of 34 attempts.

James Madison 75, No. 14 Virginia 73

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Dawn Evans matched her career high with 38 points to lead James Madison. Evans, a junior guard, scored 18 points in the second half, including a jumper in the lane that banked in with 52 seconds left to give the Dukes (6-0) a 75-71 lead.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jence Rhoads and Meredith Marsh both scored 17 points to lead Vanderbilt. Rhoads had seven points and her backcourtmate Marsh added six in the overtime for the Commodores (8-1).

CHICAGO — Reserve freshman Katherine Harry scored 16 points to lead DePaul in the annual meeting of the Chicago schools.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Jori Davis scored 19 points to lead Indiana in the teams’ Big Ten opener. Davis was 2 of 7 from the field in a five-point first half, but got hot after the break to help the Hoosiers (5-3) rally.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Danielle McCray scored 25 points and Krysten Boogaard added 17 to lead Kansas.

DAYTON — Justine Raterman scored 25 points and Dayton won its seventh straight.
