Help, mentors needed for Warriors Inc.

YOUNGSTOWN — Warriors Inc., 2733 Market St., is looking for volunteers who have two hours a month to give to become connected in the community.

The organization is also looking for parade volunteers for the 2010 Unity in the Community Parade, which will take place April 24.

If you are interested in joining the Warriors Inc. Volunteer Club or would like to participate in the parade, call Wendy Robinson at (330) 783-5440.

Democratic Women

STRUTHERS — The Struthers Federated Democratic Women of Ohio is meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the city council caucus room at the municipal building, 6 Elm St.

Members of council and their families are also invited to attend.

Flu vaccines offered in Columbiana County

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health Department will provide seasonal-flu vaccine at the department from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday for people age 19 and older who are county residents. The cost is $25.

Seasonal-flu vaccine will be free for any Ohio residents age 6 months to 18 years. Proof of residency will be required.

Free H1N1 vaccine clinics will continue from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the department for the tier one at-risk groups.

Those groups include pregnant women with a doctor’s referral, health-care providers involved in direct patient care, all people age 6 months to 24 years, people with chronic illness age 25 to 64, and caregivers for children less than 6 months old.

Gardens by Candlelight

YOUNGSTOWN — Mill Creek MetroParks annual Gardens By Candlelight program will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Visitors will be guided by nearly 1,000 luminarias to the north terrace of the gardens to view Youngstown at night.

Music, cocoa and sugar cookies will be provided in the Davis Center after the walk.

The event is free. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the housing programs at the YWCA of Youngstown.

5th Ward meeting

YOUNGSTOWN — Councilman Paul Drennen is having a 5th Ward public meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Volney Rogers Middle School on Schenley Avenue.

Topics to be discussed include reducing the speed limit on Kirk Road from 35 mph to 25 mph and traffic cameras in school zones.

Also, unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army’s toy drive will be collected at the meeting.
