Best bets on TV tonight
“The Closer” (9 p.m., TNT): Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) and the boys are back for a run of three new episodes beginning this week. The first has the squad investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy whose father and brother are both gang members. Meanwhile, Fritz (Jon Tenney) brings home a furry surprise for Brenda, and there’s trouble brewing in Provenza’s (G.W. Bailey) romantic paradise. “The Closer” airs just before the premiere of Ray Romano’s new dramedy, “Men of a Certain Age.”
“Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” (8 p.m., ABC): You better not cry. You better not pout. That’s because “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” is back for another airing and the mean ol’ Burgermeister Meisterburger needs to be dealt with again.
“Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special” (8 p.m., Fox): “Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special” has the country superstar performing holiday favorites and some of her hits. Joining her on stage are Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Kristin Chenoweth and David Cook.
