Man charged in death
STEUBENVILLE — Travis Miller, 27, of Churchhill Road, Lisbon, is indicted on charges of aggravated murder and murder in the shooting death of his father.
A spokesman for the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office said Miller is charged with shooting his father, Shelby, 56, of East Liverpool, in Hammondsville in Jefferson County on Sept. 21. The elder Miller was reportedly shot from behind.
The indictments were returned last week by a Jefferson County grand jury. The younger Miller is in police custody.
Trauma center expands
YOUNGSTOWN — St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Level I Trauma Center has expanded and installed a digital-radiography system that is fully integrated with the hospital’s picture archiving communication system. This state-of-the-art equipment, which represents an investment of nearly $500,000, enables the trauma team to deliver high-quality care without transporting patients from the emergency department to radiology for necessary tests.
In the Mahoning Valley, the most-common causes of traumatic injury requiring hospitalization are falls and motor-vehicle crashes. Of St. Elizabeth’s trauma patients, 92 percent have suffered blunt-force injuries and 8 percent penetrating injuries, and 74 percent required the attention of an organized trauma team upon arrival in the emergency department.
St. E’s program has a 97.6 percent survival rate, which is above the national trauma standard, as reported by the National Trauma Database, St. Elizabeth officials said.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner’s office said Friday it made the final identification of a woman whose body was found in an upstairs bedroom at the home belonging to Anthony Sowell.
Sowell this week pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges that he killed the women and left them in his home or buried them in his yard.
The coroner’s office says it identified the body of 38-year-old Diane Turner of Cleveland using a DNA swab submitted by her daughter.
