MOONEY LIVE | First quarter thoughts

OK, we're here live from Paul Brown Tiger Stadium for today's Division III state championship game between Cardinal Mooney and Columbus DeSales.

Kickoff was 11:08 and it went through the end zone.

It's chilly -- probably in the mid-30s -- and partly cloudy with a light breeze. Good football weather.

Mooney's first three plays went to Braylon Heard and they picked up 10 yards. Then Alex Zordich threw an incomplete pass. I think it's the last one we'll see for awhile.

Mooney's drive stalled at the DeSales 38, forcing a punt with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter.

DeSales went three-and-out. This was a problem in the teams' first meeting, too. DeSales just couldn't do much with Mooney's defense.
