Boardman man faces 108 counts of illegal processing of drug documents

YOUNGSTOWN — A Boardman man with reported involvement in a long-distance Internet prescription scheme has again been indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury.

Gary Evankovich, 54 of Devonshire Drive, faces 108 counts of illegal processing of drug documents. The grand jury handed up indictments Thursday. He will be arraigned later in common pleas court.

Evankovich had been indicted in January on 24 counts of sale of dangerous drugs, but Judge Lou D’Apolitio of common pleas court dismissed those criminal charges on the grounds the law Evankovich originally was charged does not apply to state-licensed pharmacists.

Martin P. Desmond, a county assistant prosecutor, said new charges were brought against Evankovich, resulting in the second indictment.
