Ursuline (10-3) will play Coldwater (13-1) in Friday’s state final.

Defensive players of the year are Richwood North Union’s Warren Shields, Brett Pasche of Findlay Liberty-Benton and Liberty Center’s Alan Sharp.

Jesse Miller of North Union, Versailles’ Bob Olwin, Oak Hill’s Greg Phillips,

Jones was one of four Irish players on the first team, joining junior lineman Zach Conlan, senior defensive lineman Dawalyn Harper and junior WR Akise Teague.

Conlan (6-0, 298) is the best lineman for an offense averaging more than 400 yards per game.

Harper, a University of Toledo recruit at linebacker, moved to defensive line early in the season and has blossomed. He rotated with Paul Kempe at quarterback last season, helping the Irish finish 15-0 and win a state title.

Teague, who emerged as a big-play threat during last year’s playoffs, has almost 1,800 all-purpose yards as a rusher (550 yards), receiver (783) and a kick and punt returner.

The top offensive players in Division VI are Ada’s Heath Jackson and Bucyrus Wynford’s Tyler Brause.

Chris Pohlman of Delphos St. John’s was named the top defensive player.

St. Paul’s John Livengood and Dalton’s Bob Ramsay shared coaching honors.

McDonald senior defensive lineman Trent Clay, the district defensive player of the year, was the only area player to make the first team.

Western Reserve senior QB Shane Ewing, the district offensive player of the year, made the second team, as did Columbiana senior lineman Mike McMaster and Wellsville senior defensive back Jeremy Carter.

Reserve senior WR Clayton Hull made the third team, as did McDonald senior RB Nick Cupan and Southington junior RB Jimmy Rasey.

Division I and II teams were released Monday, while III-IV were released Tuesday.
