• James and Christina Thompson of Mansfield are announcing the birth of their second child, a son, Jacob Douglas Thompson, Nov. 5 at Med-Central Hospital in Mansfield. His sister is Julia Marie Thompson. Their grandparents are Ron and Sharon Thompson of Chardon and Jerry and JoAnn Nunziato of Poland, and the great-grandparents are Lorraine Thompson of Chardon and Bill and Josephine Wainio of Liberty Township.

• Maj. George IV and Joy Hammar are the parents of a son, Logan George Hammar, born Nov. 11 at Evans Army Hospital in Fort Carson, Colo. The infant’s sister is Rylee Hammar, and his grandparents are Bill and Karen Hawley of Dodge City, Kan., and George III and Lydia Hammar of Youngstown. Maj. Hammer is deployed in Afghanistan.
