Theft of metal probed
YOUNGSTOWN — City police are investigating the theft of about 1,000 pounds of metal from a historic city site.
According to a police report, about 1,000 pounds of metal parts were stolen Monday night from the Tod Engine Heritage Park on Hubbard Road. The parts go to the engine and other railroad items.
Some of the parts missing include 15 large hex nuts that weigh more than 30 pounds each and are more than 90 years old. The value of the parts is estimated at about $5,000.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the parts is asked to call Rick Rowlands, executive director of the Tod Engine Foundation, at (330) 272-4089.
Beaver Twp. meeting
NORTH LIMA — Beaver Township trustees will have a special meeting at 7 a.m. Thursday at the Township Administration Office, 11999 South Ave.
Trustees will discuss changes in township appropriations and a possible approval of a contract.
Programs for leaders
YOUNGSTOWN — Two presentations for community leaders are planned at 6 p.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., and at 11 a.m. Friday at the Center for Community Empowerment, 1420 Dogwood Lane.
Both events will feature guest speakers the Rev. Dr. Wilson Goode Sr., director and organizer of the Amachi Program, a faith-based mentoring model for children of incarcerated parents; and Mary Kay Beard, founder of Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Ministries, which has benefited thousands of children of prisoners.
Mahoning Valley Amachi in Warren is hosting the programs along with Free Indeed Prison Ministries Inc. and the Center for Community Empowerment.

4 hurt in school-bus crash
ENON VALLEY, Pa. — A school- bus crash in Little Beaver Township sent four teenagers to the hospital with minor injuries, state police in New Castle said.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Beaver Dam Road. Driver Teresa Davidson, 45, of Beaver Falls, Pa., took her eyes off the road to remove a Gatorade bottle from under her accelerator pedal, police said. The bus left the road and hit a boulder. It went off the berm of the road and into a ditch.
One teen was taken to Beaver Medical Center, and three were taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Police did not release their names.
The bus was transporting students from the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Beaver County, Pa.
Police said Davidson will be cited for careless driving.
Santa in Wickliffe Circle
AUSTINTOWN — Santa Claus will be visiting Wickliffe Circle just in time to light the Christmas tree.
The Wickliffe Circle Christmas Committee has organized the 23rd annual tree-lighting ceremony that begins at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Wickliffe Circle, 4102 Mahoning Ave.
The Austintown Fitch High School choir will play Christmas songs before the tree is lit, and Santa Claus will ride in on a township firetruck as the Fitch Brass Choir sings “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
Those in attendance are invited into the Wickliffe Circle Fire Station afterward for hot chocolate, cookies and the chance to visit with Santa.
