Part-time police officer enters guilty plea to child endangering charge

YOUNGSTOWN — A part-time Minerva police officer pleaded guilty this morning to a child endangering charge in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the Nov. 13, 2008, accidental death of his 2-year-old son.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the county prosecutor’s office dismissed the involuntary manslaughter charge against Douglas Foor, 25, and the child endangering charge against his girlfriend Amanda Saunier, 24, also of Minerva.

Sentencing will occur after a pre-sentence investigation. The couple’s 2-year-old son, Jacob, died after firing his father’s handgun into his chest.

He entered his plea before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney.
