Fitch volleyball team defeats Harding in opener

AUSTINTOWN — Brittany Weidenthal scored five aces and made 12 assists, four kills and one block as the Fitch High volleyball team defeated Warren Harding on Saturday by scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-14.

Alexa Lynn made two kills, four blocks and three points for the Falcons (1-0). Chrissy Bolsko made four kills and five digs.

For the Raiders (0-1), Creelynn Prouitt scored nine points and amade 15 assists ad two digs. Brittany Rumple made five points, nine assists, four digs and two kills.

JVs: Fitch, 25-13, 25-11.

Girls soccer

AUSTINTOWN — Katelin Smith scored four goals as the South Range High girls soccer team defeated Youngstown Christian, 6-3.

Kelli Johnston and Abby Ausnehmer scored one each for the Raiders (1-0).

Hannah Weiry, Anna Cullar and Geri Dawson each had an assist while Raiders goalkeeper Kristin Robinson made six saves.

Kristi Cooper scored two goals and Christy Hartman one for Youngstown Christian.
