MLS roundup \ Saturday’s games

Sounders 0, Toronto FC 0

SEATTLE — Dwayne De Rosario and Freddie Ljungberg had their share of near-misses Saturday, but no one found the back of the net. The expansion Sounders (8-6-10) have gone three straight games and 314 minutes overall without scoring at home. Toronto (8-8-7), in the middle of a three-game road stretch, bounced back from a 2-0 loss at Chivas last Saturday. TFC, which took 13 shots but put none on goal last week at Chivas, had five shots that nearly went into the Seattle net in the opening half. In the third minute, a long distribution downfield by goalkeeper Stefan Frei found De Rosario. He got behind the Sounders defense into the penalty area, went one on one against goalkeeper Kasey Keller and had a wide-open net from six yards, but poked his shot wide to the right.

Revolution 2, Earthquakes 1

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Steve Ralston and Wells Thompson each scored in the second half to help the Revolution. Ralston set up Thompson’s first goal of the season in the 74th minute, six minutes after finding the net himself as the Revolution (9-6-6) beat the Earthquakes (5-12-5) for the second time this year to take the season series for the first time since 2000. Ralston’s goal gave him a team-leading seven, and his assist was the 135th of his career to extend his MLS record. New England, which outshot San Jose 14-10, has gone 4-1-1 over its last six games after a 2-5-4 stretch.
